Hello, I have a painting that was passed down from my husband's grandmother. My husband is now 61. I cannot find an artist name, but it is a painting of a group of cherubs, holding hands around a tree. There are three cherubs in the tree and several dancing around the tree. Behind the tree is water and trees and mountains. To the left of the painting is a nude lady in the water, seeming to cling to a chariot which holds two people.
To the right of the painting, in the sky, is a woman holding a spector, sitting on a cloud with a cherub giving her a kiss. There is also a temple in the background with 4 people
Standing around it. Can anyone help identify this painting and advise if it is worth anything? Thanks much.

Would it be possible for you to post an image of it here, if it's something that would be appropriate to post? Doing so would help in the possible identification of it.

There are many, many paintings with the subject matter being cherubs doing various things in them.

Thanks!

From your description the painting could be "Danza degli amorini" or "Amorini celebrate the rape of Proserpina" by Francesco Albani, italian painter (1578-1660).http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Francesco_Albani_002.jpg
There is a series of reproductions on canvas made by A. Borsari of this same painting, but you should be able to find the signature "A. Borsari" and "F. Albani" somewhere on the canvas, it's likely that you could find a circular monogram with the letters R. A. S. also. Please, check this link: http://www.artconversation.com/questions/455-oil-painting-on-canvas-signed-f-albani.html
Good Luck!
