What wire do I use? Can you help me with proper wiring layout. I have a 2.4 GHz dual handset cordless system, one touch tone phone and dsl & FAX. My phones are on one line, can the dsl &FAX use the same 2 wires or do I need to use the other 2 wires? If so how do I do this?

The RIGHT way is to bring all cable/Ethernet and phone to one box centrally located and to run two cat5 and 2 coax to each location.

You can do the following: Get a splitter for your NID. Your DSL provider might provide one for free. Also ask them to remove the 1/2 ringer and replace with a test module without a jumper.

Get a Leviton 110 punch down block from Lowe's.

Run home runs to this location.

Line 1 can be phone, Line 2 can be FAX. The DSL splitter can be installed at the NID and use Line 3 for DSL. Now all lines are available on the standard 6 pin telephone jack.

This is where the first option becomes attractive.

Do some research and ask some more questions. It's BEST to run a separate cabl direct to the DSL modem from the splitter. It's also best to locate a wireless access point in the center of the house. So you have to do some planning. You can buy a siamese cable with 2 coax and 2 cat 5's in a bundle.

Home depot has the Leviton module, not Lowe's. Mixup on may part. The stores always seem next to each other.

Red and green would be good for line 1(voice), the yellow and black would be for line 2(fax and DSL)use a splitter or filter on devices.
Since you likely have 4 conductors at most, you can't do a whole house filter, that would require 3 pairs.

However, if he changes is jacks to the 6P-6C rather than the 6P-4C , 3 lines will work. 6P refers to 6 pins. 6C refers to 4 conductors.

Wiring direct to a DSL splitter and putting the DSL modem close to that is the best. But, remember that wireless access points should be in the center of the house, so this creates a potential problem with wireless/router/modem combinations.

But, then again. One filter on one fax machine isn't that much of an issue either.

Again, best, cost and even re-sale value. Now, there are some systems designed to distribute HD TV over gigabit ethernet.

Again, there is even a blue flex conduit for low voltage that can be run.
