2 yrs ago My husband was hurt at work(1 week before that we had a new baby). He is self employed and the company that contracted him didn't have enough workers comp . To cover what he makes for a pay check. Needless to say we went just under 1 yr with a shorter pay then normal. He is fine now but has just gotten back to work fully. Everything is now coming up late and as hard as we try to catch up it doesn't seem to be working, We tried to get the house refinanced but because we didn't make full payments when he was hurt we now have a credit score under 500 and no one will refinance or do a loan with us. Is there anything other then bankruptcy? Please?

Contact all you creditors, explain you problem to them, ask if they can reduce you monthly payment to a lower payment. Contact your mortgage company ask them the same.

Be honest with them.

We have been in contact with them and the mortgage company is great , but the others want their money they have said he is now back to work so he should pay, and it would be fine but we have to pay what we were before plus the amount that was deferred while he was off from work , and we're finding that very hard to do while trying to raise 3 kids . I'm not using that as a cop out.

As long as you may a attempt to pay, they will have to accept the payment, it may be less than normal, but you are making a attempt. If there is a local Consumer credit agency, contact them, they may be able to help in convincing the creditors to work with you.

As long as you pay, you will remain in a position of honor.
