I have a lot of respect for the opinions I've read in the past on this forum concerning the happenings in the world. I'm sure everyone is aware of the fact that Russian Prsident Putin is making an absolute mockery of our current situation. I don't think that all of that bs would be going on if not for our (USA's) current military strife.

I don't know George... seems to me like it has just thawed out.

Just a point of clarification, but not everything happens because the U.S. does, or does not do, something. There are other players out there with their own ambitions and characteristics. Putin is one of them. See generally: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/current-events/georgia-not-peach-state-247178.html

Hello,Trandy!
Let me correct you-Putin was Russian President, now he is Prime-minister.The name of the Russian President is Medvedev.

GV 70,
So... what exactly is the difference? Why is Putin's face the one all over the news, when he was President, and now that he is Prime minister??

prime minister (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Minister)
President (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President)

My guess on the news thing... Putin's term was up... he put Medvedev in "power"... Medvedev is a puppet??
So basically I was right the first time, I just had the title mixed up... A dictator can assume whatever name he desires... ehhh

Am I close??

Theoretically-Medvedev has the power. But Putin and Medvedev have been close friends since 1990s.And believe me-most of Russians do not think that Putin is a dictator.

O.k... o.k... I'll apologize to the Russians for calling their President a dictator... I mean uh... a puppet, and calling their dicta... uh Prime Minister a dictator.;)
