 I have a very tricky situation on my hands.. in mid march my fiancé and I moved into a great apartment with our son. To anyone who knows New Jersey-a 4 bedroom for 1,000 is a steal! When we met the owner of the house she seemed a little odd, okay we knew she was a nut! But this was such an amazing offer all we could think about is how much money we would save. She told us her husband was trying to kill her, DYFS has taken her children 9 and 13 away for 3 years now, and she claims the local police raped her and blinded her with mase... okay we should have taken this as a huge sign and left but we didn't. Now months have passed and the crazy lady WHO LIVES DOWNSTAIRS FROM US is getting worse. This woman sits at her window whistling, at first, for about 5 hours! Then she upgraded to a FLUTE! Anyone who's been in the 5th grade knows how annoying that sound is. She starts at 630AM!! and doesn't stop until 10 something at night! The police say its out of their hands because she's in her house and its not too late nor too early... I don't know what to do, the neighbors tell me she sits in her window taking pictures of neighbors and points antenas (that are not plugged into anything) at peoples houses. She accused the girl next door of being a prostitute and a drug dealing. The girl next door has down syndrome! SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE!! I need advice as to what to do abou my crazy land lady. If someone has advice I would love to discuss this issue further, before I lose my mind.

What do the neighbors say about anything they have done? Have they called the police?
Maybe you all could start a petition and take it to a municipal meeting or something.
Does she have any relatives you know of that you might be able to talk to them about her?

How much longer is your lease?
6:30 is too early but most places that have noise laws usually the time is 10 or 11 p.m.

***Check and see if they do have a disturbing the peace ordinance and what it says.

I would suggest playing the radio enough to drown her out but I have seen too many times where people have done things because the police refused to and then they were the one that ended up slapped with the fine.

Im not sure about the accusing, but the whistling might just be her attempting to get he's children off her mind or maybe she suffers from mental illness. She's not insane. Just picture being in her position. Things might have just happened to fast for her

To do it day in and day out I don't see that. It does sound like a case of her losing it.
What do you mean Things might have just happened to fast for her?

The change of her losing her kids I doubt anyone would be OK with losing their kids.

It sounds more to me like she was crazy before she lost her kids and probably why she lost them. Women who are crazy will accuse people of trying to kill them because they are delusional not necessarily because it is true.

It sounds to me as though she may be schizophrenia. People with the paranoia form of this disorder believe people are against them, hence the police raping her. Also the pointing the antenna is a good indication to me, as a medical professional, that schizophrenia is the cause of her actions.

I think it may be time to just move out. Unfortunately, if she is not a danger to herself or others, there is little you can do.
