View Full Version : Am I pregnant? Or not?

I went to the OB-Gyn about two weeks ago for my annual exam. Everything went fine, and I went on my way.

While I was there, I filled out the form regarding recent "symptoms" I've been experiencing. I've had a lot of urination, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches. We talked about a few of the symptoms, but since I'm rarely sexually active with my boyfriend, my doc and I steered away from pregnancy as a reason for all of the symptoms.

Then, two days later, my doctor gave me a call and asked me to come back to get blood drawn. She wanted to rule out pregnancy. I later went in, got the test, and it came back negative.

I continue to have the same signs I previously listed. In addition, my boyfriend has indicated I'm extremely irritable, noticed my exhaustion, and I now have a lot of lower back and leg pain. Recently, I experienced my monthly period, however, it was very light and didn't come with the cramping I usually experience.

Could I be pregnant despite the fact that I just tested negative with a blood test? How pregnant do I have to be to test positive with blood? Do I need to go back to my doc and get another test? Should I bother with an at-home urine test?

Bother with an at home test, just to ease your doubts. But it's unlikely you are pregnant.

If you became pregnant very recently, a test might miss it, but in that case you would not have been having symptoms for so long. If you became pregnant more than a month ago, it's unlikely the test would be wrong. Also, a lot of these symptoms are not particularly usual in pregnancy. Not that there are any hard and fast rules, but diarrhea and irritability don't sound like the usual.

But the reality is that no internet response can tell you for sure if you are pregnant are not. I think if you want to know, a drug store test is easy and will give you a cheap 'second opinion."

Also, given that you are uncomfortable, you should go back to the doctor to find out why you don't feel well. Even if it's not pregnancy, wouldn't it be nice to feel better?

Good luck!
