I'm looking for a roommate, what is the best way to find someone that won't screw me over and/or be a slob?
How do I find a good roommate?

Usually, craigslist isn't a bad place to post for roomies, or if your community has some sort of a newspaper, you can post there as well.
Then you can start by interviewing them.

I've posted an ad already. I guess I should have mentioned that...
I can include my post and you guys can critique it, if that will be helpful!

Here's my advice based on any number of roommates when I lived in NYC - live in a cardboard box or your car before you get a roommate.
I have roomed with my best friend, never had a problem. Strangers - yes, problems.
Some day I'm going to write a book about roommates - and I know you have a dog. That makes things dicey because some prospective roommates LOVE dogs right up until you're not home and the dog (which presumably can't tell you what's going on) is locked in the bathroom every moment you're not home.
The high point of MY roommate experience was when I went to an audition and my roommate was also there - wearing my clothes.
Ah, yes, live in your car.

I'm not sure if you are implying that I should become homeless before considering a roommate situation, or that being homeless for a while will make me appreciate a roommate. I've been homeless before. I would not recommend it. I've decided to get a cheaper apartment once I save, and sign a three month lease here. I've ditched the second and third jobs for a full time second one, so finances aren't so fragile anymore..

Psh, are we having a horrible roommate contest?
I had a roommate who agreed to let me off the lease if I stayed there until she found someone new, well, she did... three weeks before I was scheduled to move out. He slept on the floor in the living room. He fell in love with her after three days, and tried to slice his wrists when she rejected him. There was blood all over the living room carpet, and cops had to come and take him away. Then she tried refusing to sign me off the lease if I gave her $300 to replace the carpet when SHE moved out...

Hi, Momma!
I would suggest networking through friends and relatives first in order to find a roommate. That to me would seem the best route to try first. Depending on how you have worded your ad for one, it will make a great difference in the kind of responses to it that you will get.
I would appreciate seeing the ad, since you have already offered to post it.
Thanks!

You do realize, Clough, that I just said that I had changed my mind about the roomie? :P

Okay. Thanks! I am house sitting right now and basically have moved into the home where I am house sitting. Brought my computer over as well as a very small monitor. Connection is really slow as well as I am having problems seeing and reading things.
Sorry! I bad!

If it's a contest, you win -
Worst I've heard so far -
