How to transfer cassette to cd?

The way I've done this in the past with cassettes and LPs was by connecting my cassette player (JVC) or turntable (JVC?) to my stereo receiver (JVC) and then connecting the receiver's line-out to the line-in of my computer's sound card (Soundblaster Audigy) and then using the utility software that came with my sound card, recorded audio files which were burned to audio CD with the software (Nero) that came with my CD drive (Plextor). It's helpful to have editing software that can do volume normalization, equalization, noise removal, or other processing.

After doing dozens of LPs, had I to do over again, I would simply buy new CDs where possible given the time involved.
