My daughter's finance requested transfer of his probation from Georgia to Florida, Georgia said OK but Florida declined saying he does not meet the criteria. He has a Florida drivers license and vehicle registered in Florida, and has a place to live and job if he is allowed to transfer. Florida states technically he is a Georgia resident. My daughter is a Florida resident. He was a Georgia resident and was sentenced to Teen Challenge in Florida and then Bainbridge Rehabilitation Facility in Georgia. He has completed his sentencing requirements and has six years of probation and wants to live in Florida with my daughter.

What can be done to get Florida to accept his transfer from Georgia. Where and how does he appeal?

The reason Florida probably denied his probation transfer is due to the fact it's to his girl friend's home and not a relative. Just because he has "a job and a place to live" isn't enough for Florida to agree to have it transferred. Does he have any blood relatives that live in Florida? If not, then I would suggest that the girlfriend move to Georgia until he is off probation. Both states must agree or he does not go anywhere.

Do they have to be living with that blood relative or just have one living anywhere in the state of FL ?

Hello r:

Don't listen to twinkydooter... She knows NOTHING...

In fact, there ARE parolees who have NO family. Therefore, requiring that a felon LIVE with a family member is STUPID on its face, and is absolutely NOT TRUE...

What the parolee needs is a JOB and a place to LIVE. If he HAS that, the receiving state CANNOT refuse to let him come.
