I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash about 8 yrs old. Dishes come out cloudy and spotted. I see a lot of greasy gunk on the bottom edge of the door panel and it appears to be inside the little round, slotted part on the top of the door panel. Any suggestions?

First, you can make sure the dishwasher itself is working OK. All a dishwasher does is fill, circulate and drain over and over again. After the unit has completed the fill and starts to wash, you can open the door and see where the water level is; it should be somewhere around the height of the heating element in the bottom. Next, see if the spray arms are turning. The only thing that makes the arms rotate is the pressure of water coming out of the holes in the arms. If the arm holes are plugged with debris, remove it, and try again. Note where the arms are, close the door and let it wash for 12-20 seconds and open the door to see if the arms are in the same position or not. Next, make sure the unit is draining OK. Most dishwashers should get rid of the water in the tub in less than 45-60 seconds. If all of these things check out, post the model number and we can go further.

The is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It actually filters the water going into your dishwasher and leaves your dishes spot free. After the first load I was amazed that the white film was gone and my dishes were sparkling. You can get it at DishwasherFilter.com - Say Goodbye to Cloudy, Spotty Dishes (http://www.dishwasherfilter.com).
