First no, you can not call them, they have no real customer service.
And remember there is three main credit reports, are they showing up on the others.
Also how old are they, are they past the statue of limiation for the state, and are they older than 7 years since last activity.

Even if you pay the accounts, they will still appear on your credit report, just show paid.
If you can negotiate a pay for delete, then they will be removed. Otherwise, they won't be removed until 7-7.5 years from the date of first delinquency(the date the account went delinquent and was never caught up prior to charge off).
It will do you no good to really call the CRA, such as Equifax, as you can't pay them.
I would suggest that you go to www.annualcreditreport.com and request your free credit report from EQ, EX, and TU.
Make sure the accounts are reporting accurately.
If a collection agency is reporting, always request debt validation to make sure they have the accounts still and find out if they are legally allowed to collect and if the original creditor has sold the account to them or just assigned it to them.
If the original creditor is reporting, then contact them about the debt.
As far as your credit score goes, a paid and unpaid collection account has the same effect. During a manual review, a paid collection will look much better than an unpaid.
It is best to always try to negotiate a pay for delete, collection agencies are more likely to accept a PFD than a original creditor and even more likely to accept once statute of limitations is out.

Seven years past date of last activity has no effect on anything. Date of last activity is only important when determining if you are past statute of limitations. If you are going to pay in full, statute of limitations is irrelevant.
You can call customer service at the CRA. It is hard to get through and make take sitting on hold for hours only to end up talking to someone reading a cue card speaking broken english.
