Last night I worked a 14-hour Location shoot for the TV show "House". I parked my car where my employer told me I must, in a temporary "CREW ONLY parking area they had rented that was located several miles from the actual shoot location. Supposedly full-time security was at the parking lot. Nevertheless, when I returned to my vehicle, I discovered it had been broken into, causing possibly several hundred dollars in damage to the driver door lock and the alarm system, not to mention the 2-items worth about $150 total that were taken. Is the film production company, my employer, liable for the damages and losses?

P.S.

If it were up to me I would never have left my vehicle parked in a such an area of L.A. County.

I see no liability on their part, no different from you parking in any other lot. Isn't it covered by your auto insurance?
