My 2001 pontiac grand am se will not start it tries to but acts like its not getting fuel

. Test for fuel. Do you hear the fuel pump run for several seconds, when you turn the ignition switch to ON? Replace fuel filter, if it hasn't been changed in the last 25,000 miles.

I would spray a minimal amount of starting fluid in the intake.if it doesn't fire you will know its more than just no fuel.if it does,then you know you have a fuel problem.

Were you having any issues prior to it not starting? Was the check engine light on? Did the vehicle stall out on you or did it just not start?
