What were you charged with? Possession? Theft?

I find it a little bit difficult (I know this is serious but this truly is amazing!) that the person who was growing the pot reported the theft but stranger things have happened.

My crystal ball says - probation, fine, "don't do it again," perhaps some sort of forced volunteer work.

It's TOO early to tell what will happen to you. If you live in Texas, they might give you the chair for possession. If you live in Oregon, they won't charge you at all.

Why did you steal a plant that won't get you high?? Stealing pot is much worse than smoking it. Besides, if you live in Texas, they can shoot you for being in a neighbors back yard.

In any case, you're going to need a lawyer. And, DON'T talk to the cops.

Possession over 30 grams

I live in Canada by the way, Ontario and the person who was growing it did not call the cops, There were undercovers at the scene already

Just go here and download a legal defence kit. If you now have a lawyer, give it to your lawyer. If you have not appeared yet then give it to your duty councel to submit. A cannabis plant with no buds is not considered marijuana, so your possession charge is invalid.

Go to community legal aid which is run by student lawyers. Cost is nothing if you have little or no income. The problem with legal aid is that they do not support a crime that has no jail time, BUT you still can get a criminal record. If you have a good paying job just find a cheap lawyer to submit for you! The Canadian judicial system is in disgrace with the pot laws. The laws have collapst but the gov. still prosecutes? Huh?? Disgracefull is not the proper term to truly describe this lowlife government.
