Well, she's not new -- she's about 6 months old now. She obviously has some beagle in her, but I have been struggling to figure out the mix until this morning. I think Kasey (her name) is beagle and daschund. She weighs a tad over 20 lbs. and has long legs with some beagle markings, but a slender snout, which tells me daschund. She also has white tips, which tells me beagle. My wife found her when she was probably all of 5-6 weeks old running around a parking lot with 2 of her litter mates (probably dumped in the field behind the location by some jerk). Anyone have any ideas? Joel

To post an image, you'll have to load one onto a photo website such as photobucket.com

Once there, you can use the html code of the picture and copy/paste the URL into the "insert image" link when you post another message.

Sometimes dogs have several breeds and can be hard to distinguish. Do you have any plans to take her to the vet... they may be able to give you a good idea? 20 lbs is very large for 6 months, so a beagle/dash doesn't sound that likely to me.
My pup is "supposed" to be 1/2 beagle, 1/2 Australian shepherd but she's over 50 lbs and I think she's actually a Harrier/Aussie, not a Beagle/Aussie.

Good luck in your search! I'm sure someone else here can provide my insight :)

I've added the best photo I could get of her to my profile. Hope it shows up. I have many others.

She looks very sweet :)

How would you describe her ears? Long and floppy? Wide?

What about her tail when she's standing? Straight up? Curled? Hanging down?

She's already been to the vet numerous times for worming and all her shots (I'm a long-time dog guy). She hasn't gained hardly any weight in the last 4 weeks (or height), and she grazes her food nightly (with her big sister -- my lab mix, Jamie, 6 years old), so she is quite healthy. Our vet has no opinion, but he's a young guy (he runs a satellite clinic for our main vet). I've been a collie and lab guy my entire adult life, so this little one is an enigma for me. And I got a picture uploaded using my camera software.

Her ears are medium-long, wide, and floppy. When she walks, her tail is upright and straight -- another beagle trait to me. And she's an absolute sweetheart, although she doesn't care very much for the squirrels in the trees out back. Oh, and my wife calls her "Underdog" because of the way her ears flop when she's running around in the backyard.

Just a few ideas, but right now I'm fairly clueless ;)

She looks to be a lab, with maybe a bit of boxer or border collie.

Daschunds are known for their poking... my family has them and I have a pom/doxie mix and when they want somehting they poke you with their nose. The length of her snout leads me to believe she could be mixed with doxie, she also has doxie ears and the top of her head looks like my sisters doxies..
You may also be able to tell from her front legs and chest they have a very strong appearance and the legs will be slightly bowed out.

I was thinking there might be a bit of lab myself.
