If I live in a house with my parents and I am 20 years old and I want to have a friend spend the night do they have a right to tell me they can't spend the night and call the cops on me. I live in Iowa by the way. I am also on the Lease. Thanks for the help

If you are living with your parents, and they are paying the rent.. umm well follow your parents rules or move out.

If you are on the lease and pay rent, have your own room, then I don't think they can do that. Just a guess though, I'm not 100% sure.

Wait for some of our legal experts to come along, maybe tomorrow, not many people on this late at night.

Good luck.

Technically, legally, from what you've described, your parents probably cannot stop you from having guests. HOWEVER, if they call the cops on you, or of you call the cops on them, the cops are going to show up and say it's a civil case and there's nothing they can or will do.

If you want to be independent and follow your own rules... well, you know the routine - get your own place and support yourself. If your parents are paying the bills, then your kind of at their mercy.
