Ok, I just found this site about 20 minutes ago and have been trying to search through the electrical section to find anyone who has had an issue like mine. My apologies if someone has and I missed it.

My problem is that I have a hunter remote (part: 85094-01) and the fan is a Hunter Sontera (will double check tomorrow). The remote, off the base, does not work at all. When I put the remote back on the base (covering the second light switch) the remote works for both the fan and light.

The fan does have pull chains on them, and I have tampered with various settings. Both switches are in the correct position. I am going to try a different dip switch position tomorrow to see if that clears it up. But while I do, has anyone heard of this or have any other idea what it might be so I can check on that right away if the dipswitch idea does not flesh out?

Never heard of that issue. Have you tried a new battery? Maybe the remote signal is weak.

Yes, I tried a second battery. I think I might end up trying to call hunter if the dipswitch changing does not work. I am still trying to figure out what would be different about the remote being on the base. I tried the remote next to the base and touching the base (though not hanging) and it didn't work. Only when it's actually hung back up on the base.

Is there any connection between the base and remote, or just plastic meets plastic?

Does the red light on the remote work regardless?

Red light works regardlss of being on or off the base. There does not appear to have any connection to anything behind the base. It's just a piece of plastic that sits over the light switch. I just bought some new batteries and tried them to no luck. So tomorrow I am going to try to get the dip switches changed, and also there is another fan in another room, so I am going to try their remote as well.

If none of that works, contact Hunter for replacement parts. Or just remove the remote and control the fan from the wall switch and pullchains.

I'm really trying to avoid doing that since it's nice to have a remote when you are sleeping you can just tap on the fan

Not when the remote doesn't work!

Remove the remote and receiver, buy a new set.
