Ever feel the need to sit in the sunshine and soak up a little bit of its warmth? To carry that warmth with you throughout your day and revel in its beauty? To just sit and chat with friends and family?

Join me for a picnic on the lawn of Chicky's Central Park…. A place where all your dreams come true…

Scrumptious food…

Enchanting conversations…

Thermoses (Thermii??) of freshly brewed coffee…

Coolers of your favorite “adult” beverage…

Perfect weather – “not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket…”

A concert in the park…

A soft blanket for a night of star watching…

All the time in the world...

But above all…

The friends that make sitting in the sunshine worth it.

Be my friend. As someone has once said, “Good conversation is just as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after.”… so why try? Let's kick off our shoes, pull up a blanket, and have a ball.

Howdy.

Ran into a bunch of things there actually, A ice cream man, a clownish guy, a BIG rock, and guy proposing, and a guy giving out a Extremenly Sugarfied Orange Drink

I ended up distilling it with water and putting a little Umbrella in it LOL

FIRSTLY: Thank you Angel for posting the little duckies and for the wonderful photo of me, blonde and all! You are so sweet!

Targets?????? Oh My Goodness Guys, a little something was missing in your interpretations of this!!!!!!!!!!! :) Instead of just Starduck being hunted and threatened, all of us from the land of the Castle of Doom and the Binky Room, got turned into ducks so we could play together nicley just for this one night!!! Tomorrow we will all return to our cyberselves and continue on our journey together.

Starduck, I was trying to look out for ya Darlin'!!! LOL Tomorrow, back to business as usual except that I am one year older! Now, you know, I am 27 right? That never changes no matter how many years pass! Ha.

Our little swim party was sort of a gift I was giving to myself and to help Starduck catch a break for one night! But tomorrow, all fair game again! And the hunt is on!

You are such a sweetie! I really did know that part. I was trying to tease something about a ball game, base 1 or something I had heard years but don't know how it went or if it was a Laurel and Hardy thing or... anyway... I'm old as we speak I guess and the ol' brain is just shrinking as I type.

You both were sweet to wish me a Happy Birthday and I appreciate it. I better leave the humor to Starby and Alty! They do it really well. I get lost in it some how. :p

I better just lay down on this comfy quilt in the park and watch the clouds pass by! :)

I knew you were good guys! I have a little problem. I don't want to refuse your charge card, I mean that would not be polite but since I am not a shopper, perhaps, I could just buy one thing?? A new bike maybe, you know just for long road trips. That way, only one charge on the card, I am there and home! I, of course would get you your Cigars. Do I have to go to Cuba to get them? I would do it for you! ;)

I haven't seen the rest of the crew. Friday's are usually fairly quiet. Time to catch up on special visits and such!! :p Maybe they are all playing in the bathtub, those fun little duckies!! :p I asked Starduck to leave off the pointy toed boots though!!

:p Thank you so much for the bike! M will be a great help! When I went to the shop to choose this last bike, the Rebel, these salesman, kept walking around me. I kept starting to ask if they carried the Rebel and the Shadow, etc. No one would wait on me. Finally my husband walked up to me and all of a sudden, there is a salesman. He asks Bo if he can help him. He says, "No, my wife wants to purchase a bike!" My husband doesn't ride motorcycles. Sooooooooooo, needless to say, I did not purchase the Rebel from that place!! LOL So I might need M just to get waited on... LOL I might have to borrow Starby's boots to get their attention, what do you think? LOL Better yet, I will just let M show them his badge and all will be well.

Hope you and Marta enjoy the hot fresh apple pie and ice cream!

Catch you later, on my new bike!! What a guy you are! This one should clear the mote at the Castle with two on it with no problem what so ever!! Cool

I agree Rebbie, I should have servants that get sick for me.

Right now my head feels like it's going to blow up, my whole head is stuffy and my body is sore. I can't sleep because I can't breath out of my nose, so I end up breathing out of my mouth and have to get up every hour to drink water because my throat is dry. No meds are working, not even Nyquil and that usually does wonders for me when I have a cold, not this time. Arrrrr, this better not last long, I'm done. :(

I hope you had a wonderful birthday Rebbie, your 29th is always very special. ;)

You know what Starby... I really thank you dear. Thank you very much. I read some posts like this one cutting down Americans in a very sanctimonious, self servicing way, implying that things are always better where they live and we are pigs. I don't always understand; living in this country all my life and traveling around Europe, Canada and Mexico, I haven't really met people that hate us and our way of life. This spewing hatred for the US is almost like these people are sick and have been "programed". We are not perfect and I really don't think anyone here (that I know) would say that we are. In fact, I think we are our own worst critics... But that's the US...

Have you ever seen anyone from this country say these things over and over about other countries with such meanness?

Sorry, but I too am fed up and I want sometimes to lash back at these guys, but I know, it would be pointless.

So YES, thank you my dear... I appreciate it very much and I am sure that a lot of us Americans do too.

EDIT: The last time I was in Poland Marta and I made friends with a wonderful couple. He had a business where he met people from all over Europe on a daily basis. He would tell me how he would encounter people like this and he would challenge them and ask them why they felt this way and hated everything about the US. Most he said were never in the US and really never met an American. Once he ask one of these persons "why do you hate them so much don't you realize that in a sense they are "our" children since most of them came from Europe?" "How can you hate your own relatives so much?" I personally thought that this analogy was very different, but I certainly appreciated his kind heart. He had visited and lived here for a couple years and left to go back to his family, and he said he got to know some very nice people here.

In fact, I think we are our own best critics...But that's the US...

have you ever seen anyone from this country say these things over and over about other countries with such meanness?

Sorry, but I too am fed up and I want sometimes to lash back at these guys, but I know, it would be pointless.

So YES, thank yo my dear........I appreciate it very much and I am sure that a lot of us Americans do too.

Stringer

The pleasure was mine my dear! :) He has put down Canadians in prior posts also. It is ignorant and uneducated, to envelop all people that live in the U.S./Mexico/Canada (AMERICA) in the statements he's made. If his words were bullets, he would be accused of something much worse than ignorance.

K....and I would never take your comments in the wrong way, and I'm sure M wouldn't either. Sheriff's and Deputies are here to take care of the marm's, little kittens, little birds with sprained wings, lock all unlocked doors, etc. Do ya think that all we do is set around and polish our badges and look handsome? Nawwww, we have work to do hon. Now, why don't you go shopping while we work, here is a charge card. Now don't come back until you spend as much as you want to.....Bring me back some good Cuban cigars k?

Thanks again Starby, I meant no harm in saying America and meaning the US, really. As you know internally we refer to ourselves as Americans, to me it is an expression, we can all (Canadians, US and Mexicans) refer to ourselves as such for sure. It has become an unintentional use of the term.

A lot of people do this and I agree it is not correct. Even on TV the people here are called that; on History International Channel for example, they always refer to us as Americans.

Agreed that it is incorrect my dear...

I took no offence to that, Silly String! The Northern Provinces of Canadian, America would sound a little weird!  LOL! I only take offense to people who categorize others because they have a singular belief about another country, when they have not experienced the thoughts or morality of the people that live there. Those are the people that scare me more!

Understood my friend, I just wanted to make sure that I did not offend... :)

I served my country in war, and I lost a lot of good, very good friends. As many have from the US, Canada and many other countries who gave their lives for the freedom of peoples in other countries. And we all made serious sacrifices, and I sometimes take offense with people like him that sit back in their living rooms and feel they have the right...

Be careful of hot dogs/corn dogs...

Recent studies state that eating a hot dog a day increases your chances of cancer by 23%

... so... seeing as I smoke, drink, have multiple cell phones around me at any given time, carry a camera, and eat hot dogs every now and then...

... my chances of not having cancer are slim to none.

Charge card?.....did I hear "charge card?"...............Ducky needs a new set of wheels!!!

Yep, you heard correctly! CHARGE IT!! Are these guys just the greatest or what? Marta is sure a lucky lady and I am sure Angel's lady (I make assumptions here, just know anyone as sweet at Friend has to have someone special in his life) feels the same about him! No one has ever given me a charge card before, felt sort of like "Pretty Women" without the trapping of said character!! I must say though when the guys at the cycle shop wouldn't wait on me and Bo came up and they did, he was just as miffed as I was!! ;)

So, I have a few questions for you little Missy!! I am a little confused!! I know, everyone is asking, "When is Rebby not confused?" But are you Starby, our beloved Queen or are you Starduck, taking on the appearance of Duck or are you Duck in disguise as our beloved or have you stashed Starby somewhere in the park while you do your evil deeds??

So, Ducky needs a new set of wheels. I know one good shopper to recommend. Now, I can't supply you with the card BUT I sure can recommend this guy... his real name is sssshhhhh... Friend, but I call him Angel, because you know he has always just sort of been my Guardian Angel for a really long time and goodness knows I need one!!

I bet he can get you fixed up but of course, we need to know your real identity first!! Angel would never want to betray Starby by choosing wheels for The ever so mischievous duck, using her name and disguise so spill it there girl!! Who are you really?? We need our Queens you know. :p

We just enjoyed the duck dinner, well, sort of, that little duck just wouldn't stay in the cooking pot, so had much too much buckshot in her. Stringer does have that tail feather framed though, right? Proof positive but then there were those two ducks arguing at the Castle, "I'm your best friend, No I'm your best friend!" So does that mean there are still two on the lose and Starby is still tied up?? My head is spinning. I think this chic, I mean chick, I mean Princess, better go to sleep! Night all! We all owe you a huge amount of gratitude!!

Starby, can you ever forgive me for making you wait?? But M was his wonderful self and was right there when needed, AS ALWAYS!!

Thanks Angel!

Isn't there suppose to be a "Deputy in Training"? Seems as though I remember such. Haven't seen him this weekend.

The way HC describes Chicky's Central Park, perhaps we won't be in danger like in the castle... it seems like it is a place we can relax and enjoy good company, good food, good weather everyday... well, who knows with that duck or ducks still lurking... I must get a new mind set of peace and tranquility, long leisurely times in the park with good friends like all of you! Maybe tomorrow night we can do some star watching and just take in this beautiful universe in all its grandeur! Night all and sweet dreams!

No BB it isn't just you, nice thought my friend.

I have always loved my son and daughter very much and have told them so every time I get the chance. When they were at home, it was almost like the "Waltons." I was raised that way and I guess it just carries over to the next generation.

My daughter is doing well and I help her out where ever she needs it.

Bryan, has always been successful in whatever he has tried. In any competition especially sports he has excelled. He is a good father to his son and daughter and a good husband.

As far as business, I hope that you understand, but I tell him when he does well, but he has to see the "other" side of business also. What I mean is, being on top of the company and responsible for so many things is not a picnic in Central if you know what I mean. He will be responsible for the company and major decisions in the future AND for the business life of 497 people and their families. So he has to be sharp and also know the competition.

Sorry to run on so... but yes, I tell him when he does good and I tell him when he screws up, in no uncertain terms.

The nice part of being his father is seeing others appreciate him in business... It doesn't hurt in business that he reminds people of Tom Cruise or so he is always told...

Please don't take all this as bragging, I am really proud of him and my daughter...

Well, hi Rebbie! It was pitch dark inside, I managed to get a few steps, then WHAM! The passage closed, I don't know how. I got out my pocket lamp torch and wandered my way out as fast as possible. Then I saw a large empty cage, with the lock freshly broken.

Wait! Can it be that... Can it be that it's there that the morphing duck came  That's so mysterious. It seems also that that door can only be accessed from one way, only entering it I mean. I'll have another check once the castle completely renovated.

Hi Rebbie... no, I don't mind at all. I was 24. It will be five years, come November 21. Holidays just don't "do it" for me anymore... he passed away the weekend before Thanksgiving and it kind of wrecked it for me.

But, he truly is my inspiration in all areas of life... and I can honestly say that I do not have a single bad memory of him.

Thank you for sharing! We are never ready to let them go but you are so young to have to deal with this so early. I can tell by your posts you are a strong person and will be fine. I know your dad was proud of you and knew you would be okay. Tough times, especially near a Holiday. My sis-n-law lost her mother Christmas Day and my sister lost her son the day before Christmas Eve! They do both try to still celebrate with joy the birth of the Lord and to celebrate the lives of their loved ones but it does sort of wreck the Holiday Spirit.

My dad had never been ill a day in his life except for a cold here and there, he had been at my house, left laughing, called me, chatted a bit, I got a call some 30 minutes later, he was on his way to the hospital, had emergency surgery, was on a vent, gone in 22 days!

To be able to say you do not have a single bad memory of him is remarkable and a testimony to both your lives!

Goodness, I won't go on... guess my heart is just so full today of the love being poured out here in the park today! I think it is nice though to get a glimpse into each other's personal lives from time to time. Again, thank you HC, for sharing!

I'm so sorry for everyone going through such hardships... I must be fortunate as I never had to deal with any deaths in the family... plenty among friends, but none in the family. I know it'll come one day... but it's just one of those things you never wish will happen.. . like finding out that the santa at the mall isn't really santa... but your chinese food delivery guy, trying to make a buck over the holidays.

HistorianChick

It makes things that you once thought of as "cheesy" very meaningful and precious. Never again will I take advantage of those that I love. Not that I ever took advantage of my Dad, but you know... there were times that I should have stayed home rather than go out with friends... should have let him hold my hand... you know... teen girl embarrassment stuff.

I had the best parents ever... I can't complain. :)

Alty
Jul 28, 2008, 12:24 PM
HC, I feel the same way about my parents. Losing them was the hardest thing I ever went through. I was 30 when they died, I've told the story a few times already, they both died of cancer, Dad died first Jan 12, 2001, and then Mom on July 30, 2001.

It's been 7 years and I still think about them every day, especially when one of the kids does something new, I always wish they could be here to see it. We got together all the time, talked every day, we had a wonderful relationship. It still pains me that they never got to see Jared grow up, they never even met Sydney, it's hard.

We all go through tragedy, and we're all made stronger because of it, the key is to keep the good memories in your heart, share them with others, that way your loved ones will live on forever. :)

It was the night of the palace ball and Cinderella couldn't stop crying. Her fairy God-mother was very distraught. "Cinderella," she said, "Why are you crying? You have a beautiful gown, a shiny pair of glass slippers, and you're about to have one of the best evenings of your life!" But Cinderella continued to cry. "I know," she said, sobbing, "but I've looked everywhere and I can't find my diaphragm! What am I going to do!?!" she cried again.

The fairy Godmother thought for a moment, and then said, "I'll make you a diaphragm, but only for tonight and you HAVE to be back by midnight or it will turn into a pumpkin." "Thank you! Thank you!" she shrieked, and she went hurrying out the door so she wouldn't be late.

The fairy God-mother smiled, happy to have pleased Cinderella so much. She settled down in front of the fire to await Cinderella's return.

The fairy God-mother waited. And she waited. And she waited, until finally 12 o'clock rolled around and there was still no sign of Cinderella. The fairy God-mother started to get worried. One o'clock rolled around and then came two and then three and the fairy God-mother had worked herself into a frenzy thinking about all of the horrible things that could have happened to her.

Suddenly, the door swings open and Cinderella comes sauntering in in a daze with a lazy smile painted on her face, a little drunken swagger in her walk and kind of breathes a tired hello.

The fairy God-mother's eyes got big and she jumps up. "What happened? Are you ok?" she said with a frantic voice.

"I'm just fine," she murmured. I was on my way home when I met the most lovely man... Peter, Peter something or other."

Sniffle, sneeze, groan, I'm about the same, actually, I'm worse.

Okay kids, I'm open to any and all suggestions on how to get rid of this cold/flu, I've tried meds, I've tried honey and lemon, I've tried rest and fluids, orange juice and vics vaporub. I've taken hot baths with lots of steam, I've had tea, I even got hubby to buy some rum, put it in my tea. I'm done, stick a fork in me, I need a remedy, anything, so, call grandma, call mom, ask her for an ancient family secret way of getting rid of a cold, every family has one, I already tried mine, and I've come to the conclusion that my family doesn't know squat. My sanity is on the line here boys, I can't take anymore!

Eucalyptus steam, hmm, I'm assuming I'd have to go buy that, where, and what am I looking for? Keep in mind it's 10:30pm, not much left open, probably only the shoppers drug mart, can I get it there?

I'm desperate here boys.

Oh, while we're talking about health matters, I have a question for you Sneezy. Now don't get squemish, it's a touchy subject, but I have to ask. Hubby had a vasectomy on Friday, it was the no scalpel kind, now the doctor told him he'd be fine in a day or two, he's not. He's really sore still, has trouble walking. He did everything the doctor told him to do, jock strap, frozen peas, and don't walk around too much, could something be wrong? Why is he still sore 4 days later?

Sorry for the topic boys, just pretend we're talking about the weather, K? ;)

ISneezeFunny
Jul 28, 2008, 09:45 PM
How often has he been icing it? Is he taking anything for the pain?

Oh, and eucalyptus... I think you can find eucalyptus oil at any health stores... it's oil that is extremely minty. Few drops into boiling water, put head over it, cover with towel. 3 - 5 minutes, and your nose will start dripping (sorry) but it clears it up pretty nicely.

jrebel7
Jul 28, 2008, 09:47 PM
Alty, as long as you have been ill and if you are running temp, do you think maybe you should call your physician and get on some antibiotics?? I don't know how you keep going with two little ones, feeling as badly as you are feeling. Please give that some thought! I am one worried kid about you!!

Seems I jumped in a little late with this and you are wanting help for the night! You just sound like you feel so miserable. Wish I could fix everything for you!! But tomorrow, perhaps think about getting anti's!!

Alty
Jul 28, 2008, 09:50 PM
Sneezy, I think he could ice it more than he is, and he's taking tylenol for the pain which seems to work, but when it wears off, oh lordy is he sore. I'll tell him to ice it more. :)

Rebbie, I'll be fine, I'm a tough cookie, lived through worse than this. It's like my mom always said; A cold takes one week to come, lasts for a week, and then takes one week to leave, but if you go to the doctor it only takes 21 days. ;)

ISneezeFunny
Jul 28, 2008, 09:51 PM
He should ice it for about 10 minutes every hour...

And... 2 tylenol extra strength for the pain.

... hoping he's taking an ibuprofen or an aspirin for anti-inflammatory?

Alty
Jul 28, 2008, 09:55 PM
He was taking ibuprofen but it makes him a little less cautious when moving around, and then when it wears off he feels it and it's worse. He iced it 10 min/hour the first day, but hasn't been keeping up with that, so I'll tell him to do that more. Thanks Sneezy, what would I do without you, you're going to be a great doctor. :)

ISneezeFunny
Jul 28, 2008, 09:58 PM
Aw shucks.

Thanks.

The tylenol extra strength is for the pain...

Ibuprofen is actually almost a must for the next 3 - 4 days... it's not really for the pain, but more for the anti-inflammatory so that it doesn't become something worse. Even if he's feeling better, get him back on ibuprofen for the next 3 - 4 days. Tell him it'll fall off if he doesn't take it.

Alty

Alty... Vicks has eucalyptus in it. Try putting that in boiling water, and do the towel thing... instead of applying it directly! If you have a vaporizer, put it in there! Just a small tsp of it, because it's pretty strong.

That's what my mom used to do Starby, and I've tried it, no go. I'm just so miserable. I just want to breath, want my nose to go back to its original color and stop hurting. The post nasal drip and stuffiness is driving me insane. Arrrrrr, I hate being sick. :(

Sorry, little vent, sick Alty = unhappy, grumpy, b#tchy Alty.

No hard liquor here, Wiggy picked up some Brandy, but alas, that's it. He did pick up beer too, and although it has no medicinal purposes, I'm indulging. Wow, the screen is moving, funky. :);)
