Hello, I was hit by a bad virus. I used several softwares to get it out of the system, but in the right bottom of the screen beside the date and time, it shows "VIRUS ALERT!". The other problem is that when I open My Computer, it shows everything but my C and D Drives.

Double click the VIRUS ALERT in the Task Bar to open the dialog window of the program creating the alert. What program is doing it?

An active alert means the virus isn't gone, or you have malware/scamware on your computer still trying to get you to buy something using false virus alerts. We need to know what program is giving you that alert to know if you're infected with a virus or malware... or both.

Thank you JBeaucaire for your reply. When I Double click the Task Bar, the Date and Time Properties come up and I performed an update after not seeing any thing about where the virus is. I do agree with you that it is from some malware/scamware. I down loaded what I thought was Spy Bot, but it was not the real deal and it got me. Please feel free to provide any more suggestions because it's all appreciated.

Double click on the VIRUS ALERT message itself, not just anywhere in the taskbar. You said there was an alert, doubleclick on that alert only.

On Acessing the C drive, it is not available on any file menu and not available to search: i.e. cannot access or 'find' any file that is not in My documents or in the desktop.

Try running this:
CCleaner - Download (http://www.ccleaner.com/download)

The first OP above never answered back. What happens when you doubleclick on the virus alert message?

Hello JB,

As I had said earlier, "When I Double click the Task Bar, the Date and Time Properties come up and I performed an update after not seeing any thing about where the virus is."

I am about to try the CCLeaner.

Nothing show you what active Malware program is causing this. I had a bad bike accident on my Cannondale and suffered a broken rib and a cracked chest plate. I can breath now. Sorry for the delay.

Thanks,
