My cat is in labor, She was a barn cat when I got her and has had a few litters of kittens from what I understand. She has had one litter since I got her, and is having her second.
She has had some discharge on her backside since yesterday but no kittens, she is acting like she is in labor, but nothing has happened... I am a bit worried but information is a bit contradictory on the net, Help anyone please... should I just go to the vet? I can't afford the emergency, and I don't want anything to happen to JOsie... she is very special... bob tailed and doubled pawed.
Thanks.:)

You have to let her get through it herself. To take her to the vet at this critical time would probably be very dangerous for her. If she got through the litter she had with you, then she will get through this one and if you value her company and love her, GET HER SPAYED PLEASE!!

I'm going to disagree with Tickle. If it appears that she has been in active labor for a day with no kittens, then I think you need to get a vet involved. It's possible that she has an over-sized kitten blocking the birth canal, and the entire litter can die if the kitten is not removed. And if the kittens die, then you are looking at the possibility of pyometria and peritonitis as they start to decay, and that can kill mom.
Please post back and let us know what's happened!

froggy7 Thanks so much for your advice, even though I did see it till just now. We got josie to the vet yesterday afternoon, she had 4 huge very over due kittens and we were lucky enough to get three out of four... She was spayed in the process... I appreciate your quick response.

I'm glad to hear that mom and the remaining kittens are OK. For the lurkers, keep this in mind. The fact that your cat may have had several litters with no problems doesn't guarantee that this delivery is going to be a breeze.

I am glad to hear your girl is spayed and you no longer have to be the position of making a rough decision. Good luck !
