:o [B] Hello, my downstairs toilet gurgles when the toilet upstairs is flushed and also when the washer drains, the water in the bowl goes way down and stays down in the bottom. The washer is right next to the toilet that gurgles.downstars. My tub upstairs has been slow to drain recently as well... the house was built in 1962 and has had root problems in the past. Still have the clay pipe sewer run... if a vent is the culprit what type and how long of device will I need? And how should I proceed with clearing the vent? should I first put ghardne hose in the vent or use a a fish tape first.. Help.. /// the house is a bi level home. Thanks in advance for any help.. Phil

This tells me that youi have a blocked vent and the system's attempting to vent through the toilets trap and the suction is pulling water out of the bowl.
Snake and clear the vents. Put out enough cable to reach the bases and 20 feet more. Start with the downstairs lavatory vent. Good luck, Tom
