Hey guys. Im on probation for a misdemeanor dwi. In a couple monthts a friend that I was in the miitary with is getting married and I promised him years ago that I would go. My question is this: is there some sort of database if I fly that would "red flag me?"

Hello h:

Some people like to break the law just for the sake of it. I'm not one of those people. I don't advise people to do that either. Therefore, my advice to you is get permission. Then you don't have to worry about getting caught.

Yes, how hard is it to go in and talk to your PO, show them the wedding invitation and ask if you can go.

Yes, I would absolutely do that if I thought it a viable option, but this guy is kind of a stiff... I asked to go visit my mother a couple states over not too long ago and my request was denied. With all due respect gentlemen, and please don't take offense, but Im not asking for moral guidance here, I'm asking a legal question..

Hello again, h:

I'm not giving you moral advice. I don't give a sht about you. It just looked like you didn't know the rules, so I thought I would tell you.

If your probation officer turns you down simply because he "stiff", you can appeal his decision to his supervisor. I would. Make your request IN WRITING, and send a copy to his supervisor.

I don't really see why your cursing at me you mouth breather, but forgive me for seeking an actual answer to a question instead of a bunch of circle talk... maybe you have time to sit around and play games all day but I have to do. Ill be sure to tell everyone that this web site sucks

Hello again, Dude:

You didn't want advice. You wanted agreement. Too bad. I know you don't like my advice. So stick it where the sun don't shine.

Nice. It must be hard to sit around and be witty on the computer all day huh? FYI I'm a grown man and I asked a question about a database in order make an educated decision, not what you thought I should do, so if you don't have anything intelligent to say about it Id appreciate it if you'd mind your business friend

Hello again:

Nahhhh. I'm sitting around trying to be witty. Can't be witty if I mind my own business.

Besides, YOU'RE the one who put your business on a public platform. I'm just commenting on it - AND I AIN'T Going to STOP.

Hello again, Dude:

You're really not very smart are you?? How would you be "red flagged" if nobody knew you were breaking the law?? Are they tapping your phone? If they are, and they don't want you to travel, don't you think they'll just arrest you BEFORE you go?? Why would they let you go, and then "red flag" you??

Dude, you don't make a lotta sense. But, I'm having a good time with you.

You could possibly be red flagged at the airport since nowadays with the post 911 crazies out there running everyone's name through the computer before they get on a plane - you could end up sitting in jail IF you don't have prior written permission to leave the state. You could be in the other state and be redflagged coming back home and then be sitting in jail for probation violation of being out of state without permission.

If you do get permission to attend the wedding, get the permission in writing and carry that paper with you at all times and treat it like gold until you are literally back in your own home.

As for the young lady who is on felony probation - I would not step foot outside your state without prior written permission either - whether it be in a car, on a bicycle, pogo stick or an airplane because when you are stopped by the police you need that piece of paper giving you written permission to be out of your state. Or you could just ignore what Ex and I have to say about getting written permission before leaving the state as you feel no one is out there "red flagging" anyone anymore. What's going to be your snappy comeback when Mr. Smokey the Bear or County Mounty asks where your written permission paperwork is when you are pulled over? Uh, I don't know. Didn't know I needed it? Sorry, won't fly with Smokey or Mounty and neither will it fly with the Donut eaters running the ID checks at the airport.

I'm not sure what state hibye is from. But I've gone out of state on a plane and had no problems...
