Hello, 1. what kind of water softener do you have in your home?
2. did you check to make sure that the unit isn't on bypass?
3. if you have a brime tank, make sure that your brime tank has salt.

Thanks ---- Zeke

Dear Pete, I live in California where water softeners are being banned because the salt damages the environment and they waste water. Upon looking for options we found that electronic hard water treatment is very effective and eco-friendly. After quite a bit of research among different brands we found that the original and only patented brand is the SCALEWATCHER.
We ended up buying it from Aqua Genesis Co from Santa Cruz. We got immediate delivery, it was easy to install and now all the lime scale is gone and our hair feels clean and slick. Aqua Genesis gave us free shipping, and a lowest price guarantee. Nice pople, friendly service 7 days a week, I recommend them. You can call them at 866 532 3083 or online at Scalewatcher hard water treatment (http://www.aquagenesisusa.com) - With this technology you can get rid of your water softener or bypass it. Good luck!

Often a softener doesn't brine due to as simple of a problem such as an air suction on the brine tubing that goes from the softener to the salt tank. Or, there is a leak in the line in the salt tank. To check it, remove the tubing off the fitting in the salt tank. Put your finger over the end of the tube coming from the softener. Manually cycle it to see if it sucks during brine draw, and if it blows water out of the tube during refill.

Or, if there is a float assembly in the brine tank, it sometimes will clog at the air check at the bottom of the tubing in the brine well.

That gives you a couple of things to check.
