My fiancé and I are residents of TX but plan to get married in CA where we grew up... where do we apply for the license and all of that? If we got divorced (heaven forbid!! ) would it have to take place in CA or TX?

Not sure if this needed to go on the law board or not... sorry if it's on the wrong board :o

You get divorced in the State where you've established residency.

There are no residency requirements to marry in California.

You will get the marriage license in the state you wish to marry. Call and see what info and ID they will require.

Divorce as noted happens in the area of residence, according to that states law
