We hope someone could help me. We just moved in into our new house in Canberra a month ago.

The surrounding of the house is still bare (no proper gardening so far), and you still case see the some part of the slab at the external wall.
However, we are quite concerned as in one area, the side/edge of the slab under the showers look wet all the time. There the cement/slab looks darker. There is no water pond or similar near the slab, the soil is clay type. We are concerned, because the slab in other places seems to be dry as the cement/slab looks very white.

The showerbase is waterproof (a kind of paint over the shower base) before the tiling. Should we be worried?

I'd have some kind of professional look at, either plumber of tile setter. Not familiar with "The showerbase is waterproof (a kind of paint over the shower base) before the tiling." methord of constructing showers. I think I would spring for cost of an independent contractors opinion before contacting builder.

I'm not familiar with the plumbing codes in Australia. In place of a shower pan all you have for waterproofing the shower is a coat of paint?

Well, if I just bought a new house and found wet spots I would be all over the builder to repair it. Leaks never get better. They always get worse. Have it looked after.

First, you have to determine what's causing the leak. It may be one of the following:

1. Leak inside the wall from hot or cold water pipes, valve, shower head connection, or trim
2. Drain connection between shower pan and drain
3. Shower pan itself
4. Shower walls

Let's take this one at a time.
1. Leak inside the wall from hot or cold water pipes, valve, shower head connection, or trim.
If it were a pressure leak they would have standing water and they say there is none.
2. Drain connection between shower pan and drain
N o shower pan. Simply waterproof paint.
3. Shower pan itself
See above.
4. Shower walls
Could be a leak in the tile grout OK. But it shouldn't be the owners responsibility to track it down.
