Someone told me that if you use K-Y then it kills the sperm is that true? I was wondering is there any way to kind of make sure that I get pregnant. I don't Know what I'm saying I just want so bad to have a baby. Can anyone tell me the what not to do's and what to do's when trying for a baby?? Please? Thank you so much

1. See your ob/gyn for regular checkups. Let him/her know you are trying to conceive, and listen to his/her advice about it.
2. Chart your ovulation. Do this for a series of a few months. Learn to recognize the patterns in your ovulation. Have sex a couple of days BEFORE you are due to ovulate.
3. Get your husband to stop any form of masturbation. Do not have sex every day during the week of ovulation--every other day is better.
4. Recognize that if you have been on birth control, you are going to need time for your body to flush that fully from your system.
5. Keep in good health, and treat your body like you are already pregnant. If either of you smoke, now is a good time to give it up. Same with drugs and alcohol.
6. Remember that it takes most healthy couples up to a year to conceive.

If there were a "sure" way to conceive or not conceive, there wouldn't be unwanted pregnancies or couples spending tens of thousands of dollars on fertility treatments.

DO:
Have sex.
DO that a lot.
Purchase Ovulation sticks.
Find the times that you are ovulating.
Do it like bunnies around that time.
Have fun.

DONT:
Use spermicides and condoms or birth control.
Make it a chore.

does k-y jelly kill sperm???
No.

Good luck. It took me four years to get pregnant. Make sure your husband doesn't wear tight underwear and/or take hot baths. High temperatures kill sperm.

It doesn't kill sperm--it's not a spermicide.

What it CAN do, if there is too much of it, is prevent the little spermies from swimming far enough/hard enough. Most lubricants cause this problem.

Talk to your OB/GYN about lubricants that are better to use for conception.

If you are using the K-Y to increase cervical mucus there are other options that may be better... K-Y does impede the movement of the sperm, but it can also damage the sperm. Pre-seed is a lubricant designed specifically for this situation. Some women find succes with evening primrose oil or just increasing their fluid intake. Another choice some make is trying guaifenesin. All of these should be discussed with your doctor first as there would be specific times for some of them to be used.
If minimal amounts, or poor quality, cervical mucus seems to be a concern, and hubby does not have any issues with sperm count, sex every day, for a few days before suspected ovulation, is often suggested. The reason for this is that it is known that motility and morphology are often improved with fresh sperm... also a good idea if these are known issues for hubby. If this isn't an issue, sex every other day is usually enough, but ditch the K-Y.

A good first step would be to have a preconception visit with your doctor and go over what you have already tried, as in determining when you are most likely fertile, any lifestyle changes to improve your's and husband's overall health, changes in nutrition and taking a good multivitamin if need be, etc..

A quick little trick is after he finshes put a pillow under you butt and wait about 15 minutes before u get up this gives his " lil guys" time to swim. And what comes out is mostly his lubercation that helps the sperm swim.

Yeah I wait for about an hour before I get up. I want to give his swimmers as much time as possible. If you can't tell I really want to get pregnant

The ONLY lubricant 100% safe for sperm is Preseed. Its (I believe) only available online.

Are you charting your cycles?

Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - FertilityFriend.com (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/)

This is a great place to start if not... I know of three of my friends that have gotten pregnant from charting... and once you have the baby you can chart as a form of birth control instead of using chemical pills...

You might want to experiment with different conception positions during intercourse. In order to become pregnant, your partner must deposit his sperm as close as possible to your cervix. Certain positions will allow this to happen more easily. Avoid having sex while standing, sitting, or with you on top, as this can cause semen to leak out of your body. Instead, try the missionary position, which allows for deeper penetration. Rear entry intercourse is also effective, as it allows your partner to deposit semen closer to your cervix. To keep any extra semen from leaking out of you, try elevating your hips for fifteen minutes or so after your have sex.

Thirdly, you have to eat right.Eating right plays an important role in your body's fertility. A balanced diet helps to regulate hormones and nourish your reproductive system. A good diet also helps you to maintain a healthy weight, which can greatly impact fertility. Women who are underweight or overweight may have a harder time becoming pregnant because body fat levels impact the production of sex hormones.

It is especially important to include certain vitamins and minerals in your diet. Try to include:
Vitamin C and Antioxidants: these vitamins prevent sperm defects and boost sperm motility. They also reduce stress on your eggs and reproductive organs.
Zinc: zinc deficiencies have been linked with reduced testosterone and semen levels.
Calcium and Vitamin D: A daily, dose of these nutrients have been shown to help increase male fertility.

Things to avoid are:
Alcohol: alcohol can reduce your fertility levels by up to 50%. It can also decrease sperm count and increase the production of abnormal sperm.
Caffeine: caffeine, found in coffee, teas, cola, and chocolate, has been proven to reduce both male and female fertility levels.
Xenoestrogens: xenoestrogens are estrogens found in environmental chemicals and pesticides. Produce and other foods can have high levels of xenoestrogens, which, if ingested, may disturb your balance of hormones. Imbalaced hormones are often the cause of fertility issues.

Lastly, exercise can also be a good natural fertility treatment. When combined with a balanced and nutritious diet, exercise can help you to maintain a healthy body weight. Aerobic workouts like walking, swimming, and cycling is good.

Please note even if you try all of these things it might be no positive outcome. It took me close to a year to get pregnant and for some women it takes that much time or longer. If you get no results within a year, its time to see a doctor. They'll check you out along with your boyfriend. Sometime God is not ready for us to bring a child into this world, but we will when the time is right. Stress can also work as a barrier, so relax and once you stop stressing over the issue, your be surpise on what can happen. I wish both of your luck in concieving.

Also take a prenatal vitamin with folic acid... folic acid has been shown to not only help with neural tube development once conception has occurred, but to also help with conception itself.

Well, as syn mentioned, its common for most to take up to a year to conceive. Of those who don't in this time, almost half of those left conceive in the next year.

The things that can hurt quality of ova and sperm are the things that are likely attributed to "good living"... drop the recreational drugs and smoking, take a good mulivitamin, reduce exposure to pollution, get good sleep, exercise, etc.

In that case of the man, optimizing the mans sperm can take over 2 months... meaning appropriate lifestyle changes might not be realized for 2-3 months after.

It can take time. Talk to your health care provider about what should be done in your situation. After a year of deliberate, educated trying without results your provider will likely look to other means of ensuring conception.

Use this as a starting place, but keep in mind that many women do not ovulate within the "norm" and you can miss it if you are focused just on a set period. Look for other signs that your body is preparing for ovulation as well. When you think you have a pretty good idea of when that may be close, start trying in earnest the week or week and a half before through a few days afterwards for good measure. Certainly you can enjoy yourselves at anytime, but maybe engage a bit more often when you suspect ovulation is coming up.

What are signs that your ovulating? Well me and my husband have sex either every day or every other day so I'm sure we are good there right?

Sounds like you have the bases covered... :) Some signs for ovulation may be increased cervical mucus that tends to be more watery, clearer, and thinner a few days before ovulation. You may notice some slight cramping low on one side or the other around the time of ovulation... not everyone feels this however, or every cycle. Other changes would be how your cervix feels and its position... takes practice and not always easy to do. Since you have been temping and charting that can help some couples as well. Have you tried an ovulation predictor kit? As with temping/charting, works well for some, not for others.

No I never tried the ovulation kits. If I'm not pregnant after this month then I will try them. I have been feeling very nautious but I kind of figure there is just a bug or something going around. I hope its more but I know the mind can play games with you too.
