Has anyone ever heard of a Designer's Choice ceiling fan? We have two of these ceiling fans in our living room and they like taking turns not working. One will work for a while while and the other will not turn on at all. I haven't been able to find this brand of ceiling fan anywhere to contact the manufacturer.

I think they were a Sears relabel. The pullchains, are they operable? Do the fans make a sound when you operate the remotes, like a beeping? How about when you use the chains?

The pullchains are not operable on the fan that is not working, they are on the fan that comes on. Yes, the fans beep when you use the remote. They do not beep when you use the chains.

Are you sure about the lack of beep w/ the chains?

Open the ceiling canopy, if the receiver is in there, remove it and wire the fan without it.
However if they are the fans I am thinking of, the receiver will not be in the canopy.

They do not beep with the chains, but they do beep when the light switch has been turned off and then back on. We opened the ceiling canopy and the receiver was in there. We have seven of these in our house - the fans that we do not use the remotes for do not have a receiver. Could we take a receiver out of another fan and use it in this one? We need to use the remote for the living room, but could do with out it in another room.

No, but you can buy a new remote/receiver set.

I bought a house with the remote controls for two fans and I had to have a guy come out and calibrate the remotes to the fans. Have worked ever since.
