What can I do about a person who is mad at me and calling dcs and police making false statements about me and trying to get me in legal trouble she already has the police following me around and tried to get my kids taking from me and calling my other friends and telling them that the police are tapping my phone

Start making better choices of friends, I have enemies that treat me better. Hire an attorney, make sure that the CPS investigation is over, that is a bigger worry than anything,
So the police follow you, if you are not doing anything, buy them some donuts and see the humor of them wasting their time.
If they are making false police reports that can be a crime into itself.
But an attorney may look into a law suit over this.

Ok your problem is no joke. What that person is doing is called defamation of character. Look it up and get going because if they are saying false statements, YOU can get them in serious trouble. It isn't legal for someone to hurt your reputation (i.e. in print or something) that ISN'T true of course. You need to let her know that your not messing around. Don't write or say ANYTHING vulgar to her as it will only hurt your credibility and hurt your case. Good luck!

This is a legal board and we take great pride in our answers. Your advice is incorrect. Please see what I wrote about defamation (below). We also don't tell people to "look it up." WE "look it up," post and explain it - if people knew where to "look it up" they wouldn't be here.
The legal boards do not operate the same way as some of the other, "opinon" boards.
Briefly - Generally in law libel refers to permanent/written statements and slander refers to non-permanent/spoken statements. Defamation (of character) covers both categories.
You must be damaged - and prove damages - in order to recover. The statements (either written or spoken) must be false but presented as though they were true and be beyond offensive, derogatory or insulting. Such statement must rise to a level which actually harms a person’s reputation. In general the person making the statement must either know it isn’t true or make the statement without attempting to verify if it is true.
The defense to defamation is that the information was not presented as the truth (which covers gossip), that the information was never secret (privileged) and was always public.
