I am trying to determine if the eclectric clutch on my Toro walk behind needs to be replaced as once the blade power switch is moved to the on position the blades do not function. So far I put a test light on the wires that go to the clutch and it does light up when the blade switch is enaged, the same for a volt meter reading iwith an in excess of 16 volts eading. So I assume the switch and any electric regulators and modules are functioning OK. Just want to make certain if there are any other test to perform to test the condition of the clutch before I spend $200 plus to replace it. Thanks

The clutch could be bad, true. Are you getting the electricity all the way to where the wires go into the clutch? I think that is what you were saying.
Remember an electrical part usually doesn't have a return policy, once you buy it it is yours. If uncertain still, I would suggest caring it to a shop. Let the shop determine if the clutch is bad. If they say it is and want to order you one, or install one, make sure they are not going to charge you for the clutch if that is not the problem.

Thank you for your response, yes I did the test where the wires go into the clutch, so as there is electricity at that point I will assume the clutch is not responing and that it has to be replaced. I will pull it out and see if I can find a repair shop that will bench test it. Thanks.
