I'm 16 years old. I'm worried because when I started my last period 3 weeks ago, it never stopped. I've been having one long, continuous period for 3 weeks. It's just like a regular period, with cramps and the same amount of bleeding, except the length is different. I'm on the pill, which is supposed to regulate periods, and this has never happened to me before. My periods before this have all lasted about 5-6 days. Please help, I don't know if I should go to the doctor or not.

Are you sexually active?

Are you normally healthy, eating well, etc?

When did you start taking birth control?

Menorrhagia (excessive bleeding during menstrual cycle) isn't uncommon and does occasionally happen to some females, however, it can also mean some serious problems. I suggest making an appt with your doc and getting it checked out.

I am having similar issues at the moment. I missed a period, think my husband is sterile. Therefore, don't think it was pregnancy. Last month when I got my period, however, it still has not stopped. Ouch, Ugh, and Umph. I need advice as to what this might be. Good luck finding your answer, honey. Oh yeah, by the way, I am 29 years old.
