I have an older central air conditioner unit that needs a transformer (confirmed by certified a/c repairman). The cost of the transformer through the a/c company was a bit steep, so I did not have the repair made. I am trying to locate the specific transformer that I need and have a friend that is an electrician to install.

The unit is by Texfan (Model #CAX 42-10 HP); Serial # J-2224-89.

The a/c technician says that the transformer that I need is 40 VA 208-230V (primary); 24V-secondary. (I don't know what all that means; I called an electrical/lighting company to ask if they have the part and they want to know if the transformer is for a double or three pole?). I don't know that info.

Please advise any additional specifics concerning this type of transformer. I am trying to locate a supplier in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area where I may purchase.

Thanks.
Confused:

Pats:

I think the parts guy was testing you. Two or 3 pole is nonsense, unless he was trying to sell you a fan control center.

The transformer is an HVAC staple. Mounting is probably the biggest concern.
