I don't know about you, or anyone else, but I always believed that older people have wisdom, that younger people could never achieve.
If MOST of the older people are opposed to Obama, doesn't that tell you something?
It seems pretty obvious to me.
No I don't agree/ Older people were brought up in a different world and they don't really care what the world will be like in 10 years because they will be dead.
Here's something to make you feel better and something for Obama supporters, I just received this from the Obama campaign headquarters, so if you have 5, 10 whatever, please help, he is countiing on us.
In the month of June, supporters like you helped raise $52 million. And together with the DNC, we now have nearly $72 million in the bank. That's a very strong financial position to be in.
But we remain at a massive disadvantage to our opponents.
As I mentioned in my video message earlier in the week, the McCain Campaign and the Republican National Committee finished June with nearly $100 million in the bank.
We can't stop now. It's going to take everything we've got to defeat John McCain and his allies in November.

As I noted ;McCain will be limited in what he can legally spend in the campaign . But I wonder if BarryO will honor his pledge to Evita to retire her campaign debt ?

Hello tom:
BarryO CAN'T legally give his money to Hillary. That's the LAW. He can open up his contributor rolls, but he can't use THAT money for Hillary... Poor girl... Maybe she shouldn't have spent all that money when she knew she was going to lose...

Lol - Just to lighten the tone here for a minute - I think you mean GOAD rather than GOAT. The meaning of goad according to Merriam Webster is this: *something that urges or stimulates into action* It is not necessarily a bad thing. Now, goat is something quite different.

That seems rather naïve, most elderly people I've ever known have been extremely concerned with what kind of world is left for their children, grandchildren and their children. With their wisdom and experience they are exactly the wrong group of people to be throwing under the bus.

All those 5 and 10 dollar donations are about to take a back seat to $30,000 per person events (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/03/us/politics/03donate.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&adxnnlx=1216314589-B9osmHRjlRBCgK1j9sISEg).

I'm not throwing them under a bus, You are going to argue this point no matter what, exactly why I'm not letting you all goad me anymore , did I get it right this time.
I agreed with the Obama statement. The 30,000 fund raiser. But like I said , they got to do what they got to do... I'm sorry if you disagree about my elderly voter statements, I love old people, but tell me, if an elderly person had to take a driving test again, do you think they would pass? If you asked the percentage of elderly people what was going on in the world, do you think they would pass? I'm sure your answer is yes... It's just a fact of life, sorry I ever brought it up...

Well, I guess that's related to 'how old is old' in your mind. Wisdom only comes with age... it's not something that can be acquired otherwise. Intellect comes from education - hopefully.
You have a right to your beliefs and it's great that you're willing to debate it because you can teach us where you're coming from and hopefully we can teach you some things too.
I'm just suggesting that you read a lot about our political system and the candidates before voting. This country has provided so much for so many of us forever. Compare that with countries around the world. Our leaders make mistakes at times because they're human beings, but they help keep us safe and let us express our thoughts freely.
When we hear so much about "change"... do we really want such huge changes that we may lose those things that matter most? Just a thought.

Now see there, that's a great example of why I goad libs - they like to complain of something a conservative does while simultaneously engaging in the behavior of which they are being critical. You just complained that older people have their minds made up and won't change - while having your mind made up that I'm "gonna argue this point no matter what." Kind of makes one look like a goat ;)

I'm not sure what passing a driving test has to do with this but one thing we can learn from 'old goats' is to take it easy and not be goaded by all the world's nonsense. My parents sure seem to be living a great life worrying more about playing dominoes and quality time with their family than worrying about what's going on in Hollywood. Then seniors like my parents will make their wisdom and presence felt at election time when 70 percent of them - the largest percentage of any age group - go out and vote. It would seem wise to take them seriously.

At least we like to hold our own accountable for such hypocrisy, we don't reward them.

Hello:
To ME, what mattered most was our unblemished record on human rights. Our stance HAS changed under the dufus in chief. I want to CHANGE it back.
Another stand we had, was that we didn't preemptively attack a country that didn't attack us, and wasn't a threat to us. Bush abandoned that stand. I want to CHANGE it back.
There was a time when ALL of America was safe from the government prying into ALL our communications. The dufus in chief changed that. I want to CHANGE it back.
Before George W. Bush, the president's employees had to account for their behavior before congress. That changed under the dufus in chief. I want to CHANGE it back.
At one time, we were the beacons of diplomacy. We talked till we were blue in the face. Bush and his cronies changed that. I want to CHANGE it back.
Some time in the past, we called water-boarding torture, and we put people to death for doing it to our men. Now, WE'RE the torturers. I want to CHANGE it back.
Some time ago, our country didn't render citizens off the street and hide them in some foreign prison where they could be tortured. George Bush changed that. I want to CHANGE it back.
There was a time not long ago when our budget was balanced. George Bush changed that. I want to CHANGE it back.
I could go on, and probably will.

They are not punished either. The hypocrisy of some people is not dependent on their political leanings - that's the part you don't seem to get. Being a christian or a conservative does not immediately make you a better person.

I understand what your getting at concerning stubbornness. Of course your father is a good man, but he can be wrong. Just when people start thinking they are King Saul, here comes David. On a personal level I like John McCain. But he is to antiquated in his ways for my preference. Some people just don't know how to retire. It's not uncommon for people to have been set in their ways since their youth. Generally speaking though some wisdom does come with age, but there's no fool like an old fool.

NK, you're always so sweet about telling me what I don't get. I don't recall giving any indication that hypocrisy depended on political leanings or that being a conservative or a Christian immediately makes one a better person - ever. In fact, I've acknowledged the hypocrisy from all of these groups which is my point, I don't defend hypocrisy from anyone. The GOP faltered in not being quick to rebuke their own such as Duke Cunningham and Foley but they finally learned their lesson with Larry Craig and his punishment was swift.
William Jefferson was caught red handed with $90,000 in bribes in his freezer and videotaped evidence of him accepting a bribe and was reelected. He was then "given a standing ovation (http://www.townhall.com/columnists/MattMargolisMarkNoonan/2007/06/08/william_jefferson_scandal_taints_entire_democratic _party&Comments=true) by the House Democratic Caucus on his return to Congress" and picked by Pelosi to sit on the House Homeland Security Committee with "unanimous approval from the House Democratic Caucus." All of this while the new Speaker was promising "the most open, honest and ethical Congress in history."

Boy, I didn't realize I had missed the invasion of our country by Germany and Italy. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Er, wasn't that during the Roosevelt administration?

You've been in a coma?? "Fifteen of the attackers were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt, and one from Lebanon." We invaded and attacked the wrong country!

What's wrong with another language? Many jobs require you to know another language. And most colleges require it, so mine as well get the kids on track early

Actually, they are all fun people as long as you don't talk religion or politics with them.
LOL Those are definitely the two things that change an attitude. Luckily it's temporary.
