I have a 95 bmw 318 and for the last two days I've been unable to get the key out of the ignition. I just got the car from a friend and I'm hoping I'm missing something rather than taking it to the dealership.

I will give this disclaimer first - I have never driven a BMW and don't know anything about them.

I had a key get stuck in the ignition once and I had to turn the steering wheel a certain way until it was in a particular way - it clicked. Then I could get my key out.

Also, are you certain the car is in park? If it isn't completely in park it might cause the key to stick.

One more thing. Some cars have a button on the steering column you have to push to release the key.

Have you ever been able to get it out or did it just start?
