I am 16, I am 5'10 1/2. I weight around 280. I was so determined to lose some weight at the beginning of the summer, so I can wear better clothes for the upcoming school year, I started walking 1.6 miles a day for a month. I figured I would see some results but until it dawned on me, I did not eat sensibly at all during that month nor did I drink a lot of water. I have 7 weeks until school starts. I also have syndrome called Acanothosis Nigricans(AN)-ive had this since 5th grade. Im so tired of it. I feel like I will NEVER lose weight. I have been trying since 7th grade, but give up too quickly. I always build myself up to let myself down. :( In the 7 weeks I have left I'm wandering if I eat more sensibly and drink 60 oz of water a day and get at least 40 minutes of exercise(which would be on my punching bag & doing some crunches) Will I see any results. Being a teenager am I able to lose at least 20lbs in one month? IF I STICK WITH IT? I would really like my AN to clear up. Its tearing me apart. Can't seem to get no encouragement from family members. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.:)

20 lbs in a month is drastic... which is why I suggest going for 10 lbs.
If you eat sensibly (it's best to find out what sensibly is... because eating three salads a day isn't sensible, it's unhealthy) and drinking plenty of water and exercising will do wonders for your body.
You're an can clear up with the help of exercise + diet modification.
I have to ask, have you been tested for diabetes?
PM me if you want help in modifying your diet and exercise routine.

Eating sensibly will help... but it may take time. Don't get discouraged. Continue walking and start trying to eat healthy and the weight will start coming off. It's not going to happen overnight, so stick to a good plan and be patient... I wish you all the luck! Be strong!

I wouldn't suggest taking pills. Yes, maybe you should eat less, but if you're not eating enough, you will gain the weight you lose back very fast and the weight loss will not be permanent. I would steer away from any pills... stick to your walking and eat healthy.

Pills that help you suppress your appetite will only work while you take them.
The important thing is to just simply change the way you eat. People take appetite suppressors, then the minute they get off, they have no control of how they eat.
Slowly make changes in your life. For instance, drop sodas one week... then drop candy/chocolates, then chips/snacks and replace them with fruits. Take small steps.

Drink plenty of water and avoid sugary drinks like soda pop. Avoid junkfoods like candy bars and other sweet snacks. Eat snacks like almonds, fruit, sunflower seeds, sesame sticks, and pistachios. Avoid eating at places like Mcdonald's and other fast food joints.Walking is the best exercise and it's easy to do.
Don't continue to worry about your weight. Don't think about it at all. Just focus on getting healthy. If you continue to put healthy practices in place you will see results.

I would start a sensible diet and then do extreme exercise for about 6-7 weeks, most people would look down on this but, don't I've lost 11kg in a week and a half which is amazing and I don't feel sick or tired I feel more awake and alert so that's what I would do

gazzter:
You've lost 11 kg in roughly 10 days?
... that's 25 lbs. 25 lbs in 10 days... 2.5 lbs in a day...
You're very well on your way to kidney failure.

I have began to Limit my snack times. For instance Ill eat breakfeast about 8. Then ill tell myself I won't have a snack until 10. Eat Lunch at 12 and have a snack at 2 and so forth. Is this the right approach? I also began drinking 60 oz of water a day. The only other thing I drink besides water is iced tea (with equal) and Coke zero. I have about 1 can of coke zero a day. The hardest part for me is at night, my body is used to going to bed full, so it gets harder at night when I think I have to eat whatever! I have been thinking about exercising 40 minutes a day but spliting that up. Like jogging for 20 minutes in the afternoon and boxing 20 minutes in the evening. I would really really love my dark spot on my neck to clear up.:(
