I have a large brick walkway that, during the winter, gets real slimy and slippery. Rather than have it steam cleaned every year, is there something, such as washing detergent or the like, that I could apply to the bricks and scrub them clean with a stiff broom? I live in Portland, Oregon, where it's damp much of the time.

Could be algae. Try bleach, it kills the stuff. Maybe deck wash is formulated to kill the same crud on decks.

With bleach,lasts a little while..
With bathroom tile cleaner like Tilex, last 10 times longer... if grass/plants nearby will retard/kill them. Use Tilex like stuff AFTER pressure washing.

An inexpensive pressure washer can often be a quick clean. They have a wash attachment called a water broom ( several jets on bottom rod)

I can wash my drive and sidewalk off several times a year in a matter of no time.
