I have known my best friend for a while. He is great and at first we were just friends but now I think I'm falling for him. However there are many complications. 1) He says that he has a huge crush on another girl and that he is thinking about asking her out. 2) My girlfriends: They don't exactly see him as dating material and they can't see him with me at all. 3) His ex is one of my friends/acquaintances, she hates him. So what do I do? Is it all worth it or is there too much baggage?

1. As long as his heart is into somebody else he will not focus on you if he did go out with you
2. They aren't the ones to determine your likes and preferences
3. It helps to figure out why x's hates him but there are two sides to most stories. Being your friend could you find out what it is like being his girlfriend?

I've been in that situation before, and I agree with your friends.

No matter how hard my best friend and I tried to become more than friends the worse our relationship got. It's hard to be best friends, and then want to be lovers, but it's easy to be just friends, get into a relationship, and then become best friends and lovers.

If you feel like it would work out... go for it... good luck!!

(my best friend and I aren't friends anymore) :(

#2 & #3 aren't reasons. Ignore them as if they were irrelevant since they are.

#1 indicates he's not interested in you. All you get to do is let him know you're interested in him and not make a big deal out of it. This issue may be over already and you need to be OK with that either way. After all, these are just simple beginning feelings, right?
