The answer varies by state. Tell us which state you are asking about.

If you are in the UK - then you need to have at least 'Third party' car insurance, but this does not cover you if you car gets stolen - but I would recommend you get either 'Third party fire & theft' (as this covers you if your car is stolen or catches fire, that kind of thing or 'Fully Comprehensive' which covers you for everything.
You can get insurance quotes online or in your case I would give any car insurance company you may know of a call and have a chat with them, they will be able to advice you what is best. The age of the car, duration of driving exerience, annual mileage & age all are contributing factors.

Hi,
It depends on the state in the US in which you live.
Also, Collision is not required in some states, but Liability Insurance is required in most.
Call your Motor Vehicles Department for your local area. For example, in VA, I would call the VA Department of Motor Vehicles; they issue car titles and tags.
Also, call a well known insurance company, such as Geico, AllState, etc, and the representative can tell you for sure.
I do highly recommend having more than the "minimum". Here is a site that explains why, and gives more good information:

I do wish you the best.
