I know I shouldn't be the one doing this but my girlfriend does not like asking such questions. But in here divorce decree, her ex husband is supposed to pay her a monthly amount. He has since quit his job because he is in rehab and now faces the possibility of jail time. My question is, what can be done about the payments that he was court ordered to pay her? She is in debt because of this guy and is struggling to get out and she IS working, but taking care of 2 kids and numerous bills is making things difficult especially with this guy not holding up to his end of a divorce decree.

Any ideas about the situation are welcome.

(Please! Do not suggest that I am in this to just get money... I doubt any of the board members would, but just wanted to throw that out there)

Thanks in advance

If you were in it for the money you would be looking for a girl that doesn't have this problem.
If he is in rehab/jail there isn't much she can do to get payments while he is there but
He should be responsible for back payments when he gets out.

If he is on SS disability she can get the kids added to his disability and they will send her money for them.

Here is a handy site that will provide info about contempt of court. Her ex has been ordered to pay and has failed to perform. Her first motion for contempt will probably go nowhere, but don't give up; after a couple more months, file a second one because she is probably going to have to push him. She must be willing to do this, of course. Contempt Of Court - Divorce Contempt Of Court (http://divorcesupport.about.com/od/yourlegalrights/p/contemptofcourt.htm)
