How do you like the War of Adventurism against Iraq which will last 100 years or until America destroys itself economically? Do you think that our colony Iraq, a future colony of Iran, and add another colony perhaps in Afghanistan will ever be in the least bit successful for our purposes as Resource Wars?

It seems to me that the government is becoming more and more controlling and less and less helpful. I am of the middle class. The class that works their butt off just to get the rich richer and poor welfare. We don't qualify for ANY government help and we don't make near enough to afford these outlandish gas prices and the price of food! But we still have to pay taxes. I was told if America could get back every dime that we have "loaned" out to other countries no one here in the US would ever have to work again. How is that for a nice slap in the constitution's face. Maybe it should say "and we are founded to help every single country but our own. And bless all of those that die for those other countries and may God help all of us here in the US."

I am utterly astounded by the way that taxes are told to be raised to "help" with a certain project only for that tax to remain long after they have recouped from the project. Then amazingly they need to raise the taxes again for yet another project. Every time taxes get raised so does the cost of living because EVERYONE in business has to raise their prices to accommodate their loss on the higher taxes. They promise more jobs but then raise another tax later on and leave minimum wage at an all time low!! They raise the tax on cigarettes and alcohol because those aren't necessary for living, no but they are small little perks that help keep us sane and happy. I would rather people drink and smoke than do illegal drugs. But instead of buying cigarettes for $1.19 a pack now they are $3 a pack. And alcohol is outrageous. They said that the lottery was to help fund education but every time I turn around another county or city needs more money to build a new gym or a new football stadium or a new basket ball court. WHERE IS ALL THE MONEY FROM THE LOTTERY! WHY DO WE NEED MORE EXTRA-CURRICULAR CRAP AND NOT BUYING NEW BOOKS OR FUNDING TUTORS!

My husband and I don't get food stamps, we don't get, medicaid, (ps insurance for myself and 1 child is $225 a month) and we don't get ANY kind of other help from ANY government affilitates. BUT WE PAY INTO THEM!! Just so a 18 year old mother of two kids by two different dad's, although she isn't sure which two out of the ten that she slept with are the one's, can sit at home watching Jerry Springer eating hershey bars and steak dinners with free insurance and free utilities and lower than low rent while my husband and I bust our butts to get by. We still have to budget because our pay doesn't increase but the cost of living sure as heck does.

My husband and I have come to this conclusion... if it isn't something wrong with ourselves or our children WE DON'T CARE ANYMORE! We have starving people in our own country that need help. We have cities at war with each other that need help! We have natural disaters going on all over the US that need help! And where do they send the best trained to deal with those situations... off to other countries to save them. Because we all know we would hate for them to go under! All in the hopes that they won't raise up and attack us later on. (shh, but I have a good feeling THEY PROBABLY WILL ANYWAY BECAUSE MOST OF THOSE CLANNIES ARE FREAKIN CRAZY!! )

Listen to this... Chicago(and Cook Co.) just raised the sales tax to 10.25% **10.25%** you read it correctly. (That does not include food, autos and medication.) The highest in the nation!! I don't live in Cook County anymore, but it doesn't matter because I don't have any money to buy anything! :D

I know all to well. It only takes a glimpse at some of the other newer posts today. Many of the same people that touted Dubya as successful are using the same arguments for a McCain presidency.

The division in classes is widening. Most recently because the middle and lower classes feel the immediate impact of a slow economy, stagnant wages, and high inflation. Other ulterior circumstances are also culprits.

At the rate we are headed, perhaps Mexico will carry the burden of watching for gringos crossing onto their side of the border illegally. Wouldn't that be a turn of events some twenty years from now? The lesser gun violence stat represents that fact that they are far less desperate people in these countries than in the US, or maybe they prize life to a higher degree (i.e. the taking of a life is not as glorified as it is in the US).

Absolutely Correct, it has been proven in areas that have adopted a more liberal concealed carry policy, that having more of the honest citizens armed, DOES reduce violent crime, with or without a firearm being involved.

It only makes sense. I recall that Sheriff in GA. who required EVERY citizen to poses a firearm inside their home. Yes, they even made it a law. The violent crime rate dropped dramatically. Believe it or not, the surrounding counties, without this new law, saw large increases in the violent crime rates after this county became "ARMED".

Criminals may be dumb, but they are not so stupid when it comes to not wanting to be hurt or killed, that is just a plain animal instinct, to survive.

They WILL avoid a situation where there is a good possibility that the victim could be armed and defend themselves and will choose a more likely defenseless victim instead.

Correction, I said "seems" like the right choice. In all honesty I couldn't care less at this point.

I am sick and tired of working my butt off 40+ hours a week for just above minimum wage praying for the next increase just to find out that they raised the taxes to build a freaking dome for the all great and wonderful Colts when the one they have works just fine. If they don't know how to play in the snow they need to take their a**es to Warren Central High School and practice on their million dollar football field. And if they still aren't happy then they should take a pay cut and see if they can live on just 1/4 of a million a year instead a full million. And all they do is FREAKIN ENTERTAIN America by chasing an oval ball around a field and knocking each other around!! I know what I am going to tell my son's to focus on... To the original post: Unless someone can get Iran to give up its pursuit of nuclear weapons, the cold hard fact is that there will be a war with them. Either before or after they launch a warhead, probably against Israel. If Iran and Israel get into it in a big way, is there any chance that other countries, including us, will be able to stay out of it? I doubt it will make any difference who is in the oval office.

I understand that it is mainly a security problem and it is within our own country that crap gets through the loop holes, but I have learned the hard way that if you have enough money you can make ANYTHING happen. We should start hanging people on times square and cutting hands off again for stealing. I bet people won't be so quick to break the rules. But that is just too mean.

Now you have to worry about... do I really have to list everything? Technology has put us more at risk than it has protected us. Is there maybe a slight coincidence in that?

If I quit my job and leave my husband I will get child support for all three kids. Mandatory.
I will qualify for over $400 a month in food stamps.
I will qualify for over $400 a month in TANF(free money)
I will qualify for free insurance for myself and all 3 kids.
I will get subsidized housing that I only pay about $19 a month for a 3 bedroom townhouse apartment.
I can go to food pantries and get even more free food.
I can get free money for utilities
I can get free daycare vouchers, even though I don't have a job.
I can get vouchers to go buy clothes to go look for a job.
I can get vouchers to help pay for gas to go look for a job.
Or I could get free transportation form the city anywhere I need to go.
I can get my GED (if I didn't have one) for FREE
And I would qualify for about 15 federal grants to go to college that the working man(woman) wouldn't qualify for.

BUT>>>> if I have a job, pay taxes, and remain married. I get to work until I am 65 years old in the hopes that I will have enough social security to pay for my food and house and gas and lights and heat and car. Oh and I will still have to pay for insurance and prescriptions and if I would like to go to the movies occasionally or get out and go on vacation, I better get a part-time job saying hello at wal-mart. But don't work too many hours or good ol uncle sam will getcha!
