We bought a house in December and have noticed that when it rains we get a really bad smell in the house (coming from the down stairs toilet). It is a 'methane' type of smell that fills the whole house. We have had the CCTV people in (££££££), they found nothing. We had 2 different plumbers in (£££££), they didn't know what it was. We are getting to the end of our tether (excuse the spelling). Also in the bedroom above the toilet we have a 'curry' smell in the cupboard.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Funny that none of these specialist did not check the toilet wax ring, 10:1 odds it needs replacement.

Since it is basement bathroom, chances are it is not used too much. So make sure you don't have dry traps , specifically in shower, sink and / or floor drain. Water in traps prevents sewer gas from entering your house.

I recently had a refrigerator installed with a water and ice maker. My husband got someone to tap the water line however the water coming from the line smells like stagnate water and so does the water and ice from the ice maker. No other water in the house smells like this. Please help. Could the tapped water line be the wrong line?

Go to Home Depot and buy in-line icemaker filter that removes odor from water. Costs about $15.00 and has snap-in installation ends. That should take care of the smelly ice cubes.
