We need help installing a chandelier from the Czech Republic in our US home. We don't know what the wire color differences mean. Can anyone help us "translate" the differences?

If it has regular lamps.. it dos not matter if you switch wires.. normally you would have 2 wires... one goes to the switch (hot) and the other connects to the ground (neutral) from the switch box. If a third wire is present it means you have a wire connected to the chassis.

If you have a n ohmmeter.. check which wire is connected to the base part of the lamp socket of the chandelier.. this is your hot wire.. the other wire to the socket is your ground (neutral).

For European lighting fixtures blue is the neutral and brown is the hot, green with a yellow stripe is the ground.

Be SURE the neutral goes to the shell of the lamp socket and hot goes to the center tab, regardless of wire colors.
