Hi,

I have come to US recently. Still I haven't got my Social Security Number in US. And without having SSN I can't register at Money2India/Remitt2India. That's why I need to deposit at the US bank account of one of my colleague who has SSN already and is registered with the services.

My question is if I send money through his US account to my Indian account, will I have to pay tax in India on that amount sent to India? In my Indian account it will show that "NEFT-M2Axxxxxxxx-Name of the Person".

Please help me in this regard...

Apurba:

This is really an INDIAN tax question.

This forum addresses U.S. tax issues.

Normally, if you are resident of India, you must file tax return and report your world wide income in India.
The Money2India/Remit2India company can provide you more details as they deal with such cases every day.
