Who performed first human heart transfer ?
Dr Christiaan Barnard performed the first heart transplant in the Groote jSchuur Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa.
The female patient lived for 18 days, succumbed to pneymonia.
His longest living heart transplant patient was Mrs. Dorothy Fisher, who lived for 24 years.
Prof. Barnard died from an asthma attack in 2001.
