I just recently bought a used sears pressure washer with a 6.75hp briggs & stratton motor. The connecting rod failed and broke apart. I scrapped another briggs motor with the same hp and took the connecting rod from it as well as the piston/rings and head. All were in better condition than mine. When I put it all back together, no spark. I did not change the carb or magneto or any electrical component. This was a running motor except when it through the rod. Any Idea as to what happened to my spark?

The mag may be grounded at a failed switch, a bad capacitor or broken high voltage lead to the spark plug. You may want to use an ohmeter to run continuity checks on the low-voltage side of the mag. While you're in there, be sure the magnets on the flywheet are OK. I learned a trick in Greenland once: To get the flywheel nut off, remove the sparkplug and rotate the crank to BDC just before compression. Then fill the cylinder with nylon cord and turn the nut off... 1/4 inch nylon rope works well...
