Thanks so much for your response. I have heard that he still has the same job (which I don't understand---since his work permit should have expired), thus the fear factor for me and my children is elevated knowing he is in the same city (was violent once before), which is why my curiosity of knowing how I would be able to legally find out what status he is in and what will ultimately happen to him. I would have course feel much better if he was totally in a different city/state. Any advice or wisdom you have regarding this would be appreciated.

He may or may not be deported at this time as the procedures take months. If he tries to harass you and the children, you can call local police or 911 in case of emergency.

If you have evidence of domestic violence, you can report this matter to the police and get restraining order.

If you want child support, then you go to the court and file...

If you don't want him to contact the children anymore, then you must forget the past, move on and start a new life.

From my experience, if you try to send letters to USCIS, the embassy, his employer, etc. they will interpret this as him being abused by you. So stay put and enjoy life...... don't do stupid things, it won't help you, it helps him!!
