I am currenntly renting a home in Platteville WI. I have experienced strange things happening in my home at 165 Virgin Ave. I am looking for the answers to the question of who and when did this person die in my home. It seems to me that it could have been a little girl age unknown. I hear her play and slam doors. I have also heard a baby crying in our home. Doors with hook and eye latches lock from the other side of the door. My small niece has told us about a little girl that wakes her in the night to play with her.
We would just like to know how we can find out the history of what happened in this house. Who died in the residence we now call home?

Your best bet is to go to the library, and go through the archives of the address where you live. Find out who has lived there, if there was another structure on the land, and what was there before. The librarian should be able to give you some help, in looking up the public records.

Also talk to elderly neighbors that have lived in the neighborhood for many yrs. They may be of some help. Ask your niece if the little girl that wants to play says her name. That could give you a few clues.

Good luck!

I agree with the answers by starbuck8 and excon. I would also suggest that before you launch into thinking that there is something paranormal going on, that you look for any possible real-world rational explanations as to what is happening. If you are hearing things, then it might be from a neighboring home. Houses can act as great resonating chambers for sounds from the outside of them.

Concerning the history of the home, perhaps there is a local historical society that you also might contact?

Concerning how excon addressed your question, it is possible that your post might be better placed in the Paranormal Phenomena topic area of this site.
