How do I know which # to put on my W4 form? I am single, with no dependents. I usually claim 0 and they take more taxes out but I do not hardly receive anything for my refund compared to my boyfriend. We make the SAME amount of money per year, I pay more in taxes than he does but he gets back like 1500.00 more than me! Something is not right. He claims 0 also. What should I claim? I am TOTALLY LOST when it comes to taxes. I just want to make sure I receive a nice amount when it comes to tax refund time. Please help!

I think you should be claiming 1 (yourself.) Unless you are bad with money it would make more sense to get a smaller refund rather than having the government hold your money for a year and then send it to you. If you put that money in the bank, you would get interest on it. With a big refund the government keeps all your interest and just sends you the principal.

You should claim 0 or 1 allowances on your W4.
