View Full Version : A hardy, low maintenance, drought resistant lawn grass?

I live in U.S. zone 8a. I have centipede which is somewhat hardy, but it has problems with the sometimes low rainfall here. And I have a number of bare spots. There are a few hours sun for most of the yard for at least a few hours daily.

During dry summer time blocks, we are on water restriction sometimes. There has been one time when we had no outside watering for a time.

My net research reveals two strains of zoysia. One is for golf courses. It seems the other one might be a good choice for my conditions.

Can any of you confirm this or suggest another grass or any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Centipede grass would be your best bet. Also, talk to a garden center or your county extension office for more specific advice. :D
