I've seen this within the last 10 years (I think), so its not old. It's a quirky movie about a nurse working in a nursing home or assisted living facility who befriends an old black man who used to be a musician. He played the clarinet, but had bad lung disease and didn't have the wind to continue to play. She smokes, and in this facility in some capacity is a young man interested in her who continues to try to get her to stop. He needs a place to stay and moves in with her, and between them they buy this patient/friend of theirs a new kind of instrument that is clarinet like but electronic and takes much less air to play. It may have been made for TV - I saw it on TV but don't know if it was ever in theaters. Sound familiar? It was pretty good - feel good happy ending stuff.

No, I don't know any of the actors. The black man who portrayed the patient is fairly well known - at least I'd seen him before - but I don't know his name. The others were unknown to me.

Do you know of any other movies that the black guy played in?

Excellent question, and one I've tried myself. I can't say I do. He's older, obviously, thin, lanky. Kind of a cultured voice. I know this doesn't help at all. I was looking for a site that might identify movies by description (likes lyrics in a song?) when I found this site. Hoping, I guess, someone else had seen the movie
