Recently my thumbnails (for all image formats) have stopped appearing in Explorer in Vista (I can just see the placeholders, i.e. the landcape image). I can, however, see album art on music files. I have unticked the "Always show icons never thumbnails" option in the Folder and Search options. I have checked the 'Show thumbnails instead of icons' option in Performance Options. I have reapplied the Aero theme. I have also tried deleting thumbs.db and the icon cache. I do not know what else to try. Any help?

Make sure after unticked the "Always show icons never thumbnails" make sure you hit apply

When you are viewing a foler, click the "view" right below the toolbar and select the option that gives you the display you would like

Now click on tools and in the folder options click on the view tab and click Apply to Folders, then apply

Hope this helps

I have tried what you have said, but the thumbnails still do not show.

Try and Google, disable video thumbnails vista - there are 55,000 hits
If you haven't tried that already, I wish I could offer more

I can see video thumbnails, but not image thumbnails. So how would disabling video thumbnails fix my problem?

Misread something earlier, sorry. You have done what should work, wish I could offer more suggestions.
